When I heard that Dave Grohl was putting together a metal project I was quite excited. Then he threw in the idea of getting guest vocalists and behold, Probot was born. This is indeed Dave's project as he takes on pretty much every instrument on the album. The album starts off with Venom's Chronos ripping on "Centuries Of Sin". When you get the chance to perform/record with Lemmy from Motorhead you jump at it ("Shake Your Blood"). To tell you the truth, it's one of the best things that Lemmy has done in the past few years. Mike Dean of COC fame contributes lyrics and vocals to "Access Babylon" and additional guitar is provided by Bubba Dupree. In a total Slayer-type track we have DRI's Kurt Brecht singing "Silent Spring". The big highlight on here is the thundering "Red War" with Soulfly's Max Cavalera leading the charge. Other vocalists include Wino, Tom Warrior of Celtic Frost (who knows where Grohl dug him up at), Eric Wagner, the legendary King Diamond, Voivod's Snake, and Lee Dorian. Kim Thayil makes an appearance on the Dorrian sung "Ice Cold Man". Probot is a power-force, now if we can only get Grohl to focus some of this heaviness into Foo Fighters we'll all be happy.
