I was first introduced to the French duo Vista Le Vie with F Comm's Megasoft Office compilation last year. They had a track called "Back In The Pit" on it, one of the better songs on a weak compilation. Max and Gilles have been fueling their passion for music through this little project. They blend Rhodes piano with guitars, jazz and post-rock rhythms making quite complex arrangements at times. There are some times when I'm reminded of fellow Frenchmen Air but for the most part Vista Le Vie is able to hold their own. There are only 6 songs on this "mini-album" but they are all quite diverse. Some whacky songs like "Drunken Master" and some smooth jazz numbers like "Refuse Resist". The track from the Megasoft Office compilation is included here too. If you missed it, it's also a smooth, downtempo, jazzy number. You will find vocals on a couple tracks but for the most part Don't is an instrumental album. A note has to be made for the effort that went into packaging this album. It's a beautiful tri-fold digipack with some very suave illustrations.
