Starting his reign over twenty years ago with Everything But the Girl, Ben Watt throws out the new compilation from his new imprint Buzzin Fly. Mixed at good pace, Ben carefully selects some of the best smooth deep house tracks that have been floating around for a while. New and old on this one from some statues in the scene Martin Solveig, G-Dub, Charles Webster, Francois A and Mr Watt himself also compliment the mix in the same vibe only the 'Lazy Dog' mixes could before. For the heads who have not heard tracks from the Buzzin' Fly catalogue here is your chance to hear a few blended in the vault. Clean, crisp vocals start it all off shifting through sweeping pads, some great piano hits and obvious floor loving dubby bass rides that should keep that smile high. Luckily, I got this one just before a 12-hour drive I had to make, so I had a little company. Turning the bass way up in the rental car bumpin speeds through the mountains, it's a keeper and in the playlist for a while for sure. Clocking in at a pinch under 70 minutes, the beautiful cover art suggests the mix as "Replenishing music for the modern soul" which seems to be pretty accurate when its all over. Nonetheless, if you're familiar with this scene then you'll know what to expect.
