While there really isn't anything at all innovative about Jeffie Genetic and his Clones, they do provide for a fun punk outlet. There will never be a replacement for the Ramones but Mr. Genetic tries his hardest to whip us into a classic punk frenzy. You may know Jeffie as Jeffie Pop from Vancouver's New Town Animals. This little project is his attempt to get the pop-punk out with a project that he has pretty much taken unto himself to complete. Jeffie makes inroads to some of the catchiest Brit-punk to be made since "Teenage Kicks" or "Orgasm Addict". And it's made right here in Canada. So really, you can respect Genetic for his fun pop style or you can dismiss it for what it is, just a fun project to get out some ideas that have probably been brewing for some time. Need A Wave is definitely not essential but if you do come across it, check it out and you might be surprised at just how catchy tracks like "Forgetting What I Know".
