What better way to celebrate The Pink Panther than to release an album of music dedicated to the sly feline. Henry Mancini could have probably retired from the theme to Pink Panther but instead opted to forge ahead with his music career. The theme song is presented here in four versions, the original from The Pink Panther Strikes Again, a Fischerspooner remix, a Ludovic Navarre aka St. Germain remix, and a Malibu remix. The rest of the album is similar lounge music that actually fits quite nicely. Some of the other tracks include a killer remix of Peggy Lee's "Fever", a cool remake of "The Girl From Ipanema" from Pizzicato Five, a bit of a different take on Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice", a smooth track from Fantastic Plastic Machine appropriately called "Bachelor Pad", and many other quality tracks. One of the highlights here is Ursula 1000's "Smokebomb" from his Kinda Kinky album. The Ludovic Navarre take on the Theme is different enough to warrant inclusion. Basically, Pink Panther's Penthouse Party is a lounge album but it tends to look a little more ahead than a lot of the one's out there. It's the inclusion of artist's like Nicola Conte, Mocean Worker, Kinky, and Arling & Cameron that help that out. Throw this on at your next cocktail party and watch as people start to bop along without even realizing.
