Lotek Hi-Fi is a new reggae/hip hop group from the UK, poised to take away the British hip hop throne from Roots Manuva and Dizzee Rascal. Well, in all honesty, Lotek Hi-Fi and Dizzee Rascal have little in common. There is some big time crossover between reggae and hip hop with this new group, brought together by Wayne "Lotek" Bennett. The group is made up of six people that really bring talent to the group. Wayne Paul is the main voice behind the project and his voice is very distinct. He is able to go almost as fast as Sean Paul. Aurelius has a great voice as well. This mini-album is a great document on what we should expect from this UK group. When you can throw a rave-up track like "Percolator" right next to a mellow and dark jam like "Inner Storm" you know you have a talented group. Sometimes you have to listen to a track a few times in order to get all dimensions. A group with this many vocalists can be diverse without sounding too thin. In fact, when you have this many talented MCs you have no choice but to be successful.
