This is a new four-piece hardcore band from Denver that is trying to amalgamate a few different styles into their music. Odd How People Shake is their first album and it is actually quite an accomplishment for such a young band (19-20 years of age). For proof of their musicianship, just have a look to the end of "What Happens In Vegas Stays In Vegas" and the piano bit that closes the album. It is quite a contrast to the rest of the album. The album opens with "Fashion Tips Baby", a faithful hardcore song with some heavy duty screaming involved, and gives you a good idea what to expect for the rest of the ride with Fear Before the March of Flames. The next track, "Go Wash Your Mouth... I Don't Know Where It's Been", might be a better indication of the bands raison d'ètre with more switch-ups happening. The band easily switches between stop and start percussion and growly vocals and matter-of-fact almost spoken word bits. I predict that with their next album they will be a force to be reckoned with in the hardcore world. While I wouldn't be surprised if their name gets truncated to a simpler Fear Before Flames or March of Flames, ridding them of the clunky band name. How do you fit that on your gig poster?
