There is no denying that Eyedea has some pretty wicked vocal talents. If you need proof, look no further than the ripping track "Now" on their new E&A album. MC Eyedea is indeed a master at the art of freestyle rapping. Abilities is the other half of the team, providing the killer beats and clever samples. Their first album entitled First Born was an impressive debut but never really took off like they had hoped. Now that they have Epitaph backing them, that might change. One of the duo's best tracks is the thick and heavy "Man vs. Ape". It's a spacey rap track with some funky effects going on reminding me a little of Deltron 3030. I think that these guys need to get a couple more people involved with their project and they would have a winning group on their hands. Most of the tracks on this album are top-notch but as with a lot of hip hop albums these days, there is some material that should be left off the album. Cut it a bit short and you will have an album that demands repeat listens but it's tracks like "Glass" or "Act Right", the two last songs, that detract from that desire. I think the best Eyedea & Abilities album is yet to come.
