Cheka is Louis Epstein and he is based in New York City. Return the Favor EP is his debut and the first introduction to his soft spoken music. While he is pretty much on his own throughout the album, it's a full sound that he manages to create. The album starts out with "Where I'm Found", probably the weakest song of the four. It's actually on the second track, "Watership Down" where he starts to sound at home. It has a muted acoustic guitar being strummed that really does a great job at setting it apart. The next track, "Unforgivable" just sounds completely generic. The final track "Always Tonight" is a nice track as well. Cheka is a soft-spoken musician who likes to have quite an arrangement behind him. I think the music needs a bit of a look at the production. It seems a little scattered. The songwriting needs to be focused as well. For an EP, it's OK but I don't think I could handle a full album from Louis yet.
