Sigur Ros - Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do
Writing about Sigur Ros is probably one of the hardest thing a critic ever has to face. Their music is so atmospheric that finding words that describe air are hard to come by. Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do is an EP of sorts that was originally written for Merce Cunningham's Split Sides dance performance. This music was performed live at the Brooklyn Academy of Music last October and also in Paris last December. They performed their 20 minutes and then Radiohead did their piece. Good company to be in. I always find it hard to believe that a band like Sigur Ros can repeat the same music in a live setting. Not because it's so tricky but that it seems so improvised. This EP is split into three tracks "Ba Ba", "Ti Ki", and "Di Do", my favorite being the latter of the three and the closer of the EP. The music lacks rhythm but if you are familiar with their stuff, this won't come as a surprise to you. I have never found Sigur Ros to be as spiritually uplifting as some people but when I'm in the mood, this stuff fits just nicely.
