The Rocky Dennis EP is the second EP to be released by Swede Jens Lekman. He is quite an impressive songwriter and this four song EP adds a little more depth to his previous. Who the hell is Rocky Dennis anyway? Well, he was the disfigured subject of the true story, The Mask. Lekman felt that this was a good subject to use to base his EP on sweet goodbyes to past lives and failed transformations. On the track "Jens Lekman's Farewell Song to Rocky Dennis" I can't help but think of British bands like The Beautiful South. It's the piano playing as well as the vocals that really make this album stand out. However, it is the very last song, "If You Ever Need A Stranger" that grabs me. It is a very gentle song and a perfect way to end a perfect EP. Apparently we have one more EP to come from Jens this year. I look forward to it.
