Amon Tobin is back with yet another collage of mixed up beats. Out From Out Where picks up where last year’s Supermodified left off. It’s a bit of a disjointed affair like most of Tobin’s releases but this time it is a even more darker. Seems like a lot of minor keys were used in the making of this album. IDM music really hasn’t been the same since people like Tobin and Aphex Twin have had their way with it. Out From Out Where is almost a sped up downtempo album except for a few extremely frantic tracks like the ping pong style of “Triple Science. He still manages to get some of his jazz influences into the mix somewhere down the road, albeit very subdued. “Verbal is a track with vocals (of some sort) provided by MC Decimal R. The track ends up sounding a bit like a dark Chemical Brothers track. Amon Tobin could easily just slide on what he has done in the past but somehow he manages to reach into his grab bag and pull out something different everytime. This makes each of his albums unique and essential at the same time.
