I really couldn’t find much information on Tom Third but what I did find out was that he is responsible for the music on the TV show Queer as Folk (which I haven’t even seen yet). As you are probably aware, Nutone is dedicated to bringing us the listener a brand new set of sounds that haven’t been done before. Most of the stuff they have released so far has been more of a world music sound fused with electronica. Tom Third doesn’t have any real connection with any world music. He is more interested in fusing jazz with some of the more eclectic beats that you may have come across. On occasion, Continuous City uses very nice female vocals, almost crossing Bjork with a Billy Holiday. It is a very pleasant addition to Tom’s already intriguing mix of beats and real instruments. I can’t really find any faults with Continuous City and to top it off, I listened to it 5 times before I moved on to my next disc (this is a lot for how many CD’s I get in a day).
