WARNING! Sugary pop involved! I always find that for a listen to any Of Montreal album I have to be in a goofy fun mood. Satanic Panic in the Attic is no different. It's probably as juicy an album as you can get without crossing over into mainstream teem-pop. They have recently moved over to the prestigious Polyvinyl for this album and it sounds like it has renewed Of Montreal's passion in their pop. The album starts out with one of the catchiest tracks on the album: "Disconnect The Dots", a summery breeze that just puts a smile on your face. Of Montreal still maintains a little bit of the psychedelic elements that the band had previously shown. One of the funniest lyrics on Satanic is on "My British Tour Diary" on which Kevin sings "On our trip to England I noticed something obscene/ people actually still give a shit about the queen". It's classic and a bouncy happy song as well. There are a couple songs that are a little less uninspired like ""Climb The Ladder" but for the most part Of Montreal have created one of their best albums in Satanic Panic in the Attic. It makes for a great summer album with fun, poppy elements all over the thing.
