You might have heard of an individual named Isaiah "Ikey" Owens. He is the keyboard player in The Mars Volta as well as De Facto. Ikey has also been involved with Sublime and Long Beach Dub Allstars. Now he is about to release his debut full-length under the monicker Free Moral Agents. Don't expect to hear Mars Volta. This is Isaiah's baby and he is going to fuck with you even more than Mars Volta. This twisted album would most likely be categorized under electronica with the sweeping soundscapes he melds with his arrangements. For that matter, "Gem From A Broken Rock" would make a great Moby track. He does integrate a lot of hip hop in the album like on "I Travel". There are some heavy grooves on this track. It thumps out like some of the better material you might find on Ninja Tune. Free Moral Agents have created a good album with Everybody's Favorite Weapon. It probably wouldn't hold up over time but in the hear-and-now this Owens has it going on. I am starting to really dig the Gold Standard Labs label. They really keep you guessing.
