RecommendWhile this isn't all that unique, The Porter Project actually delivers on something that is not an easy feat. This take on Cole Porter penned tracks is more on the electronic side of things. Billy Paul Williams is the main producer and arranger and brings in other vocalists like Nicole Henry, Lauren Carter, Charlotte McKinnon, and John Williams. The project starts out strong with the classic (uh, I think they are all classics) "Night And Day". Another great track is the standard "I've Got You Under My Skin". "Easy To Love" is done quite cleverly with a bit of an African vocal sample being woven throughout the song. There are a few tracks that fall flat on their faces like "Be A Clown". They just don't hold a candle to what the original deserves. The Porter Project would definitely appeal to downtempo fans but any hardcore Cole Porter fans might be disappointed.
