Taking Back Sunday, Thursday and Thrice were emo's big hope and while they have attained. Taking Back Sunday's Tell All Your Friends was an awesome debut album even if it didn't please everyone that heard it. It was solid and quite unique in it's emo delivery. Time for a follow-up and Taking Back Sunday has actually succeeded in doing something even more impressive. You might have a hard time convincing someone that this group is anything more than a power pop group. There are very little punk or emo elements left on Where You Want To Be. Instead we get hooks as big as a skyscraper demanding your attention. They tease us a bit with the heavy opener "Set Phasers To Stun" but then ease up in "Bonus Mosh Pt. II". There are a few other times where they scream like they are really angry but you can tell from the overall tone of the album, these kids are pretty darn happy. While bands like Taking Back Sunday cropped up pretty much on a weekly basis after their inception, there really isn't that much cutting edge in their music. It's all about melody, playing hard, good singing and decent songwriting. Nothing new there. These guys are good at what they do and the production on this album is awesome. If you didn't like Taking Back Sunday before, Where You Want To Be won't make you like them. It really is more of the same, only honed a bit more.

I think this album was a step up for TBS. They matured a lot while making this album, and there was a slight change in their styles, just a little bit. The debut still ranks higher for me than this album, but this is still a good CD. Um, there were tracks that i would essentially skip over, but that doesnt mean they were bad. I just wasnt into those specific tracks as much as i was into the other ones. Bonus Mosh Pt. II was an instant favorite of mine, along with a small amount of others. But i think more effort could have been put here to make this a classic.
