Griffin House is not a band, it's a man. And it really is eerie how much the guy looks like Bono. He bases himself in Nashville now, not a bad place for someone in this genre of music. He is only 24 years old and he has written some very emotional songs that are presented on Lost and Found in a beautiful way. It's quite amazing seeing that he and some friends did all the work themselves on a shoestring budget. This album starts out with a Daniel Lanios styled guitar on "Amsterdam", easing us into his new album. Then we are brought into a Blue Rodeo styled song called "Ah Me". It has a great upbeat feel and really shows off how dynamic Griffin and his band really are. Lost and Found contains one of the best roots songs since The Band's "The Weight". It's called "Liberty Line" and it just rolls so nicely even though the content is a little on the depressing side. Griffin really needs to be proud of this song. I had mentioned Bono earlier and Griffin's homage to U2 is "New Day". It sounds like it would have fit nicely on Joshua Tree if it had the Edge's guitar. The thing with this album is that it seems so honest that you just fall in love with the guy. There are so many personal lyrics and heart that has been put into this music. Lost and Found is a brilliant debut and one that you need to check out if you are interested in singer/songwriter music. I think we are going to see great things from Griffin House.
