I must admit that my spidey senses went up with the name of this band and the cheesy album title. I was thinking that this was going to be the biggest Bible thumping album that I have ever sat down to. And while Seattle's Blessed Light is a touch on the religious side, they are completely unbearable. In fact, Love Lights The Way is a gentle indie AOR album that has some pretty decent pop hooks along the way. The band is led by Toby Gordon with him being the principle songwriter too. The album opens with the breathy "Suzanne Sunshine", one of the albums most accessible tracks. It reminds me of the mellower side of the Gigolo Aunts. "Great Northern" is a folk song presented in a pop style. It is grand indeed. Blessed Light's songs are a bit on the lengthy side with some songs reaching over 8 minutes. If Blessed Light can cut their songs a little shorter, I think it would be a bit nicer to listen too. The songs are sugary and fun. This is an album that if you had the time, it might easily become a favorite.
