You always see people trying to justify that Drum N Bass is not dead. “So and so proves that DnB is still a very important genre in electronica music�. I would like to state that Drum and Bas really hasn’t gone anywhere. Sure, there aren’t quite as many artists in this area as there are in trance or house but still, a good DnB DJ makes things happen. One of these producers is Aphrodite. Aftershock is his second album for V2. His jungle style has been on the scene since the Jungle explosion back in 1994 in the UK. Gavin King (Aphrodite) has turned to some old-school hip hop artists for some help on Aftershock. You will find Schooly D and Big Daddy Kane on a couple of tracks. As well, Gavin gets a hand from Rah Digga, Barrington Levy, and Deadly Hunta. Some of Aphrodite’s best tracks are the strictly instrumental tracks like “Calcutta� and album opener “Heat Haze�. Drum and Bass hasn’t gone anywhere. The thing with the genre is that very few people can do it as well as a man like Aphrodite.
