For the life of me, I can't quite figure out why Joseph Arthur hasn't become as big as the likes of David Gray. His songs are a lot more in depth and have way more substance, but maybe I have just hit the nail on the head. Peter Gabriel obviously saw something in Arthur, releasing the first two of his albums on Gabriel's Realworld label. Now that Joseph has another label backing him (Vector) he might get a little more recognition. Our Shadows Will Fall is probably the Ohio native's finest effort. The depth and breadth of this album is really outstanding and repeated listens drive that statement home. After the brief intro called "In Ohio", Arthur opens up with what could be a great radio single called "Can't Exist". Songs have become even thicker and even more diverse on this album. Have a listen to "Stumble and Pain" for a demonstration of the power that Arthur possesses. And then he easily migrates to a beautiful song called "Devil's Broom". There are so many great songs on Our Shadows Will Remain that if no one notices, it sure won't be Arthur's fault.
