Ebon Tale - Sit Down (single)
13 minutes of Swedish trio's Ebon Tale is not much to go on but here goes... Guitar drama akin to that of Sonic Youth or New York City's other faves Versus, with shrill and abrasive but not off-putting vocals. The ten minute "This 6 Year Old Feeling" takes its sweet time going anywhere, content to build its intensity gradually while repeating a buzzing guitar figure over and over. Halfway through, the band erupts. It's a showcase for the drummer more than anyone else, who displays more subtlety in the bands' conversion from quiet to loud than does the guitar or bass. It's perfectly fine noisy art-punk, though both this song and the briefer but similarly minded title song together comprise a single that, on its own, represents as unnecessary a release as can be imagined. The band released a four song EP at the beginning of 2003 and now this meager offering. The music is fine but please try harder to pull together a weightier release in the future. And crediting your website design to "Heywood Jablomee" might be a laff riot in Stockholm but not so much anywhere else.
