Waves of contemporary blues and jazz rolls in, as "Sight To Frame" rolls in. And just as quickly they give way to the vain popping screams of "Roots Beneath Ideals", track two on Before Today's debut C.D. (Equal Vision Records) "A Celebration of an Ending". Like the wicked step child of Iron Maiden, this album seems to be busting at the seems of genre specifications.
Splicing together all forms of rock, rhythm and rebel experience, "Enlarge Your Hearts" is a perfect example journey through the up, down and side to side world of Before Today. The same high pitched, nose pinched vocal efforts found through out the song accompanied by the aforementioned screams of rage is present through out the disc consistently.
Formerly known as "Early Times", these San Diego natives who started with a drum set bought for $50.00 at a local swap meet bleed aggression, and a full on power punk sound that I could quickly get used to. The unpredictable melodies of guitar rock range of different metal genres which include but are never limited to; Punk, Glam, Emo, Hardcore, and Speed Metal. Extreme ranges of vocal performances, and lyrical content has yet to leave an impression of inspiring or there lack of...
Most respectable is the closing track "Color your World", similar to the intro track, this song comes with an atmospheric blend of Jazzy Jam Band like riffs. In the end ,though easily comparable to the likes of Good Charlotte and Sum 41, the extra sharp edges present will surely keep the trendy waves of pop away for now. For Now...
