Astronaut - Evolve EP
Floating through college radio stations across the continental U.S. is Astronaut. "Evolve" is the debut E.P. from this NYC bred British pop formation. They are only one of a slew (Bumblebeez 81, The Strokes, Interpol) of new artists to range from these oxymoronic specifics in the last few years. Similar to the previously mentioned artists these guys bring an energy to the speakers much like poppy counterparts.
Tracks such as "Cryin Out Loud" are full fledge happy riff moments overflowing in obvious multi-generational influence. Astronaut is Like mending the wounds of a Green Day cut, with the healing beauty and aggression of their legendary NYC predecessors, Velvet Undergound. Though "Negative Re-Evaluate" would be the most likely spin you'll tune across on college radio these days, This CD seems to touch my musical tentacles with edgier tracks such as "Jealous Moon". Look out for the full length (TBA), as their sound continues to "Evolve", we may be hearing more from these guys.
