This band has been around for about 40 years now and shows no sign of giving up. They have been through many changes over the years, both in line-up and sound but their fans have been with them every step of the way. They have seen some commercial success but as of lately, the band is doing it strictly for their hardcore fans and themselves. It's pretty much been Jeff Hanna from beginning to end and he spearheads this new album, Welcome To Woody Creek, one of the most heartfelt country albums to come out this year. That said and they also pull off two of the coolest covers ever: The Beatles' "Get Back" and Gram Parsons' "She". I won't pretend that I've followed The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band throughout their lifetime (hell, I'm only 33 years old!) but I have checked in from time to time and have always been impressed with what I listened to. They ride a fine line between contemporary country and the more classic and earthy sound that I tend to prefer. Welcome To Woody Creek should please NGDB fans. There is no reason that The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band needs to retire yet, if ever!
