I just got into Ted Leo on his amazing Hearts of Oak CD and have been eagerly anticipating Share The Sheets. This album starts out with one of the best Leo tracks ever: "Me And Mia" is easily one of the best songs that I have heard this year. He is indeed a modern day Elvis Costello but with more punch than Elvis. Songs are more immediate and instantly like-able. "Little Dawn" is one of those immediate tracks. The super fast guitar lick coming into the song and then the chunky one about 40 seconds in proved to me that I would like this song instantly. It's also Share The Sheets longest song clocking in at 5 and a half minutes. Not all of the songs are in your face pop, try on the moderately slower "Criminal Piece". But some of the best songs take a bit of time, the slight 80s feeling title track is one of my favorites on the album. Just think of the global domination if a track like "Bleeding Powers" hit the radio. Ted Leo would be king! I was hesitant with giving Share The Sheets a five star rating because Hearts of Oak was so damn good but after listening to it for the past week, it easily gets a 5. The music on here just grows on you with every listen, which is quite unusual for music that is so immediate. Ted Leo is now one of my very favorite musicians.
