Hey Mike! is your average pop-punk band from southern california, other than that there is not really much more to say about this band. As a pop-punk band they are adequate they have all the requisite attributes to satisfy any fan of the genre: Snot nosed singer, songs about girls and growing up, and screwball sense of humor. Musically the band is solid managing to sound well together but once again I found the effort average with nothing really innovative or special about it,they manage to sound exactly as they bill themselves " A Melodic Punk band from Camarillo, California." Honestly I think the only moment that really managed to get my attention was the bit of shreditude on the solo of the final track "Emotion Sensor." The songwriting once again manages to provide nothing special doling out your average cliche laden songs about girls and coming of age. overall Hey Mike! comes with an average effort with nothing that deviates to much from the established pop-punk formula, they manage to produce the same sound that is probably heard out in the clubs of southern California on any given day, nothing that hasnt been done by more established band of the genre. It is not that the music is bad it is that it did nothin to keep my interest, nothing to challenge me as a listener.
