RecommendWhile it seems that downtempo chill music seems to be a dime a dozen these days, there are some artists and compilations that stand out. Blue Light One being one. I didn’t get much information with the disc but from what I can tell Upstairs Recordings is based in Vancouver. A lot of the music on this compilation is exclusive and for some of the artists, this is the first time their work has been widely available. This album is very laid back, downtempo to the max. The beats are subtle and atmospheric but work superbly. The album starts out with an artist called The William Caslon Experience with a track simply titled “Valis�. It takes forever for the track to build but with the horns in the back keeping things going, it’s a revision of acid jazz. Never really swaying from what you heard on the first track, Blue Light One manages to hold a theme throughout resulting in a perfect background album.
