Morning 40 Federation is a New Orleans based party band that creates music that needs to be listened to among a lot of friends. The music is fun but I found some tracks completely annoying like "Frenchy". Some of the songs are very jam band inspired even though they don't have that sort of feel. Listen to "Chew It" and you'll think Morning 40 Federation has turned into Ween. The influences behind this six piece band are all over the map: Blues, rock, pop, metal (the aggressive "Gotta Nickle" can only be classed as that even if it's not all that grating). "Headlamp" sounds like it could be The Cramps or even Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Then they turn around and play a blues track smooth and soulful on "Bottom Shelf Blues".This album isn't totally compelling although I did find it a little on the entertaining side.
