Cliché'? With the name Silver Sunshine, of course it is. Nothing about Silver Sunshine sets them apart from any other typical sunny pop-rock band. With a very Beach Boys sound they can be compared to more recent bands like Supergrass, The Thrills, The Vines, and Rooney. The lyrics are not very riveting; with the typical "I should have told you to stay" echoing throughout pop melodies, not much uniqueness is beaming from this album. The upside is that they do what they do well, and that is what is going to earn them respect.

"Nightmares" is nice and catchy with fluffy vocals and a harpsichord nicely scattered throughout out the song. "Trinkets" starts with sounds of someone fumbling amongst clocks. Later comes a bouncy drumbeat followed by "ooo's" and "la's," proceeding with lyrics we all know too well about, "giving you the moon, the stars, the sun." In "Velvet Skies" the guitar comes in every few measures with a slightly catchy riff leaving the last chord or note echoing until it comes back in again.

Silver Sunshine may not be bringing anything new to the table but they definitely bring talent, though it may not lie in their lyrics. The ability to mention sunshine and skies in almost every track on their debut album is humorous if not impressive.
