Swedish pop king Jens Lekman is back with his third EP within the year (yeah yeah, I know I didn't get to it in the same year). You Are The Light is probably his most accomplished music to date and he is about to give Stephen Merritt a run for his money. The songs have the Magnetic Fields feel to them, a fun indie pop that moves away from what I have known Lekman to be involved with. Hell, i wanted to be in the room where they recorded the fun "A Sweet Summernight On Hammer Hill". It sounds like the party of the year. The songs aren't all that upbeat on You Are The Light. For instance we get the gentle Lekman on "A Man Walks Into A Bar" that sounds a little like Morrisey. The five songs presented here are delightful pop that are memorable in delivery even though they many not be completely original.
