God, I hate it when I get CDRs of a band, especially without any artwork of any sort associated with the album. This June EP was no exception to the rule, but I had heard good things from this emo band so I kept it around to check out, and I'm glad I did. The five songs on this EP are full of beautiful emo style harmonies that would make The Get-Up Kids jealous. June are from Chicago, home of many an indie band and full of artistic and creative differences. In order for a band such as June to pull off an EP as good as this in a competitive environment such as Chicago is quite a feat. This EP was released on the small Vinyl Summer label but they have since been picked up by Victory Records for their first full-length. The five songs are fairly consistent in the mellower emo vein. The band could use some tightening up around the corners but this EP is a great introduction to whet your appetite for the upcoming Victory full-length. Fans of Thursday, Spitalfield, or Hawthorne Heights should check these guys out.
