Why can't I have a cool last name like Digweed? Nah, I'm stuck with Scanland and just writing about cool music rather than making it. Whatever. Anyway, Brit John Digweed is not really about making great music, instead he is in charge of bringing us great dance beats, beats that we probably wouldn't hear if it wasn't for the like of him and other great DJs like John. Fabric is a nightclub in England that has started a label to promote some of the DJs that frequent the club. Digweed is probably the biggest name to appear on the label so far but with this quality mix the label should see some decent interest. I don't recognize any artist on this compilation but remember, I don't have my ear to the ground when it comes to dance music. Fabric 20 opens with "Strive To Live" from Pete Moss; a nice gentle way to get you in the mood for this lengthy mix album. Digweed turns it up as soon as the second track, "Traber", a phasey house track is nothing special but does have a good beat to it. The tempo never really changes all that much, like a good mixed album. Some of the highlights include "Better World", "Emico" and the almost Aphex Twin style of "Venom". Even with the same tempo throughout the album, John Digweed manages to guide us through quite a diverse array of music as only a DJ of his calibre is capable.
