Fake Cops are a post-punk band from Calgary Alberta that should garner some pretty decent exposure due to bands like Blood Brothers and Black Eyes getting recognition. Fake Cops have that same sort of jerky punk sound going with random riffs hitting you at all angles. The five songs on Absolutely Your Credit is Excellent (a clever title that was supposedly borrowed from a convenience store) are all amazing and set a path for Fake Cops. "Sir, You're Not Blowing" tends to stick out as the most impressive of the five tracks with its "Art as religion" quote repeated over and over. Next to that, "Two Mutes Two Not" grabbed my attention as well. "Roche Aux Fees" is a solid track too carving out some originality in a sea of imitators.
Brooker Buckingham (vocals) has since parted ways from Fake Cops, leaving them to ponder a future doing their own vocals. I find it hard to believe that they will be able to follow-up Brooker's harsh but I will be willing to check in at a later date to find out what their sound has become.
