Landed is the first release by Peter Walker and with it he provides a rollicking journey through his mind. Most of the tracks are mellow but a few tracks have a decidedly harder edge to them. I found this a good album for listening to while I was out in my car looking for things to photograph. Musically Walker is a mix of different styles but weighing in heavily on his sound is Jay Bennet from Wilco playing guitar and keyboard. Although you can definitely hear the influence he still pretty much sounds like his himself thanks to the strong songwriting. "Regular Woman", one of my favorite tracks on the album was a bit of a departure from the rest of the album with its harder, bluesy tone compared to the rest of the album that had a more straightforward singer-songwriter feel. Overall the album was pretty solid with good melodies. Walker's voice works nicely sounding at times like Billy Corgan and at others like Lane Stayley, especially on the first track "I'm through" because of the way the song was structured. The songs also reminded me of The Cardigans (The later albums for those out there who haven't heard them since their mainstream hey day.) Landed, overall is a very strong release that shows a lot of promise from a young musician.
