Stereo Total is a electro-pop group that comes from Berlin. Do The Bambi is not their first disc, in fact they have been around for the better part of a decade. Kill Rock Stars managed to get them a deal and this is album is the result. The duo, Francoise Cactus and Brezel Goring, have pulled together influences from French pop to electroclash and have managed to make quite an interesting mix of new music. They trade off between French and German vocals, something your rarely see. Some tracks such as "das erst mal" have a Serge Gainsbourg thing going on. Others, such as the opener "Babystritch", sound like they are trying to be like Scissor Sisters or other synth pop people. Stereo Total rely a lot on the synth sound but there is the organic anchor which is the vocals. They pull of a nice version of Nico's "Chelsea Girls", making it fit into their own. I found that I really had to be in the mood for Do The Bambi, otherwise I was annoyed by the cuteness of some of the tracks such as "La Douche Humanite".
