Eleven Minutes Away is Canada's answer to the screamo/emo style of punk that is such the genre du jour right now. The Burlington, ON band follows the template that early visionaries Thursday and Thrice carved out and doesn't really stray far from the template. This might be because the four guys from Eleven Minutes Away do it so well. They don't bring anything new to the mix other than good musicianship. This is the kind of genre that takes some skill to play but the unfortunate thing is that there are so many kids these days trying to do it. EMA actually pull it off fairly respectably. They have the chugga chugga guitar riffs along with the more melodic ones. They have the scream-y vocals along side the sung ones. If you have had enough of this style, don't even venture out to get this one. If you just can't get enough of Thursday, A Beautiful Mistake, or Thrice then run, don't walk to the nearest indie store to pick up Arson Followed Me Home. It is formulaic but Eleven Minutes Away do have the skills to pull it off. Hell, I even hear some of early Promise Ring from time to time.
