I never thought I would fall as hard for The Kills as I did. This cross ocean collaboration has proved to be very fruitful for VV and Hotel. No Wow is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed and raw Keep On Your Meanside. Sophomore slump? Not on your life! These two have taken the experience from their first couple years together to refine their sound and they have come up with an album as equally amazing and beautiful as Meanside. I might get some backlash for this but The Kills have taken away the charm of PJ Harvey for me. I know that VV steals a lot of her tricks from Harvey but the whole raw presentation just sends shivers up my spine. It might be the addition of the Hotel vocals but he's got a great voice and it adds a lot to VV's. Screw Yeah Yeah Yeah's, this shit is where it's at. If you are looking for some way to convince someone of the relevance of The Kills, let them listen to "At The Back Of The Shell". It is the most accessible song they have done yet, even with the distorted guitar accompanying the awesome duo vocals. If that doesn't do it then you have to get "Murdermile" in their ears. It's my favorite track on an album that just seems to grow for me with every listen.
