The best and most appropriate way to endure this album is to think of it as a spoken memoir by vocalist Patrick Hayden with musical and melodic sounds to set the tone. Fairly new on the scene, Deke Falcon (Patrick Hayden, Dave Clark, and Jordan Glenn), has been playing collectively since January of 2004. Complete with a mixture of diverse influences, Deke Falcon describes their sound as one of emo, country, and rock'n'roll.
With their first album, Sand in the Shower, Rust on the Road, they display true instrumentals as those of their influences. Catchy song titles like "Squadron", "Truck Racing", "Pigfuck" along with melodic strings, and leading drum beats set the tone of the song, as Hayden carries you through "memories and rejoicing prospects of the new adventures ahead". Bringing styles from former own bands like Visible Men, Scrambled Ape, and the Mann, members of Deke Falcon are sure to carry on a fan base.
This is an album you have to listen to in order to determine likeability. Musically it is on point, lyrically it is different. Judge for yourself. Sand in the Shower, Dust on the Road is available now on Happy Mistake Records.
