Sam Beam cannot be stopped. He is taking the world by storm and on each release he tends to reach out a little more than before (a good thing). Woman King is the latest in the Iron and Wine saga and this EP is most impressive. The only crappy thing about it is that it's only 6 songs long. The EP opens up with the cranky and very rootsy title track. Beam delivers it in a beautifully hypnotic fashion. The fact that most of the topics on Woman King do indeed revolve around women, one can guess that this is Sam's version of a ballad album. I don't think there would be many that would deny the beauty of "In My Lady's House". It's one of the best I&W songs ever. I would like to mention here that Sam's cover of Flaming Lips "Waiting for Superman" on the recently released Sounds Eclectic 3 is not to missed. For those of you who aren't really into EPs, make an exception for Woman King. So far, in Iron & Wine's brief existence they have yet to make a bad album. That makes for lovely repeated listening.

Solid album all the way through; I'm partial to the rhythm and sound of the title track.
