And now for something fresh in the hardcore world. Yeah, you might be hard-pressed to fit Ghosts of Modern Man into the hardcore category but rest assured City Of No Light provides you with something different. With that said, you are given more melody than is normally present on a hardcore release. I found City of No Light hard to find words for and in a lot of ways that's a good thing. Ghosts of Modern Man mix it up enough to be totally relevant and a force to be reckoned with. The mix of hardcore elements and metal elements as well as rock meld together nicely to give us a very listenable slab of music. It wouldn't be hard to imagine "Mauvaise Foi" on todays modern rock radio. Either that or the killer ballad "Dust". Ghosts never really get super hardcore on us, to the point of screaming out lyrics. No, Stacey Hahn's vocals are actually sung and sung well at that. I think given the chance, Ghosts of Modern Man will be very successful. This album is fairly diverse in structure but the songs are all fairly accessible for fans of heavy music as well as hard rock fans. Winnipeg is brimming with talent.
