Even though Spitalfield have only released two previous full-length albums they have been getting quite a bit of press. Now, before you run away screaming "EMO!" open up and let Spitalfield into your heart. Disappointed with the last Jimmy Eat World? I sure was and Stop Doing Bad Things doesn't replace the amazing Bleed American album but it is miles ahead of Futures. This Chicago based band has been going in some form or another since the late 90s. Their sound has matured along with them and now they have that definitive soft, melodic emo sound. Yup, I would place them square in that category but they do it well. They don't sound completely original but the group proves themselves as great musicians and songwriters. Mr. Ed Rose takes care of production duties creating a very nice and clean sound on Bad Things. Mark Rose's vocals have improved slightly and he has been able to instill even more melody into his vocals. Sure, Spitalfield would sound great on the radio, if radio even cared. I think some of the newer breed of Victory bands should look to Spitalfield for a little influence.
