As most people reading this will know, Six Degrees is a cutting edge world fusion label that is trying to get lesser known international musicians a shot at fame. Motion is the series that they started last year in hopes of achieving this. What it is is a compilation of artists that are on their label but remixed and reworked to be given a more club friendly sound. Some of the artists that they have on their label don’t need much help at all with this like Hawke, Sylk 130, and Banco de Gaia. But they take it to the streets and get artists like the Midival Punditz (a new signing for Six Degrees), Josh Wink, Dezrok, and Ron Trent to do the remixes. What we get is an album ready to be thrown into the mix at any club. Most of the beats are pretty pounding and upbeat. Some of them still maintain a worldly feel to them. I found myself more often than not, bobbing my head to the music and getting into it. Six Degrees is a revolutionary label with the sense to take some risks here and there. They succeed on releases like this. Karsh Kale’s “Distancegets my vote for coolest track on here with it’s Middle Eastern feel to the disco track.
