"From Under the Cork Tree" is the album that most pop-punk, scenester, and teen queens have been looking for all summer. As a follow up to their first album, "Take This to Your Grave", Fall Out Boy, has made their mark as the first pop-punk-screamo band that has not had to suffice to the same criticisms that fellow bands of that kind have had. With catchy songs from the first album such as "Grand Theft Autumn (Where is Your Boy)", "Saturday", and "Dead on Arrival", Fall Out Boy has gained an immense momentum tracking their anthemic 'teen drama' sagas to concert venues all over the U.S. With lead singer Patrick Strump's heart-wrenching melodic vocals, and guitar/vocalist Pete Wentz aggressive additions, the band makes an album worth listening to and tunes that you will find yourself humming to.
While Fall Out Boy has had this effect on many in the past, it is not as prevalent with the album "From Under the Cork Tree". While there are the same apparent riffs, tongue-in-cheek song titles, and overall same formula there is not that catchy Fall Out Boy like essence. "Sugar We're Goin' Down", "Dance, Dance", and "Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner" are a couple of songs in that nature but overall Fall Out Boy has matured into a more toughened version of what they were considered before.
"From Under the Cork Tree" is Fall Out Boy's second album, and is available on Island Records. For more information on the band and their headlining stint on the Van's Warped Tour visit their website www.FallOutBoyRock.com for more information.

Thirteen tracks, the majority with excessively long titles. And when you read the titles, well you may be forgiven for thinking that the band were somebody else. "I Slept with Someone in Fall out Boy and All t Was This Stupid Song Written about Me" is the sort of song title a joke outfit like Anal Cunt would come up with. And it doesn't really get much better than that.

Pop Punk is, at its worst, a sort of American equivalent of UK outfits like Busted and McFly. Manufactured by record companies to crash in on some trend and make a fast buck, Fall out Boy may have been actually able to play their instruments but they were not particularly good at it. Pete Wentzs bass playing, for example is leaden and plodding without any flair or even, apparently, enthusiasm. It should hardly come as a surprise then that, from being the biggest thing on the planet according to the fickle world of teenage girls, Fall out Boy practically disappeared without a trace and nobody spoke of them ever again. Like some kind of musical omerta, Fall out Who? are gone, long gone.

And that is something we should all be thankful for. Occasionally, there comes along some music which makes me want to pour lead in my ears. "From under the Cork Tree" is one of the few albums I have which fits that category. Quite why I purchased this is utterly beyond me - I must have mistaken it for something else - but I have it and now simply do not play it. Okay, I played it for this review, but if a review of this length can be written in under 20 minutes to avoid me having to listen to this for much longer, then I ought to be praised.

This is the worst end of emo, a genre which I have never much cared for. Let's wear black and have out hair hang down over our faces. Then we can go home and cry ourselves to sleep, or perhaps cut our arms, before listening to Fall out Boy as we dream of a better life. What a load of unmitigated bollocks. If awards were handed out for sucking arse - the Suckies perhaps - then Fall out Boy would have won a basket full: Album of the Year which Sucks the Most; Band of the Year who Suck the Most; Suckiest Single; and so on.

"From under the Cork Tree" came out in 2005. I wonder how many of the people who bought it then still play it, even occasionally. Not that many I suspect.

Not as great as their albums before this, most definitely. But this record did bring in a lot of gold for fall out boy. With songs as catchy as 'Dance Dance' and 'Sugar, We're Goin Down' it is easy to get pulled into this album. But when you get pulled into an album so quickly, it's easy to overlook the other songs with great potential. If you have a daughter from the age range of 5 - 15 then i would suggest you pick up this album and give it to them. But then you risk the chance of them becoming Pete Wentz followers. For the most part, this album wasnt all that bad, so dont listen to the people saying 'I hate fall out boy' just because everyone else does. Listen to their album and form your own opinion about it.
