The Perishers is light rock fare that comes our way from Sweden. They specialize in doing quiet rock that inspires you to do very little but sit and relax (and ultimately fall asleep). It was just good timing for the Perishers for where they fell into my listening zone. I was working on a big project and had very little time to actually write about albums, choosing to listen to this one, over and over more out of convenience than necessity. After about the fifth time the album really started to grow on me. The songs are really not immediate at all, instead opting for that slow, sinking in sensation. There are quite a few places I am reminded of Daniel Lanios albums, not the production but Ola Kluft's impressive voice in particular. Case in point would be "Reminder". There's nothing revolutionary on Let There Be Morning. Instead, these Swede's are trying for something a little more refined. Think about bands like Keane or Snow Patrol but even slower and you might be onto The Perishers.
So, if you just listen to this album once or twice, or even three times, you won't get it. If you have the time, sit down and relax with The Perishers. Time will reveal more and more charm on this album.
