The 1960's really did throw the whole world for a loop. This disc, a trippy mix of garage rock, funk and traditional African beats proves that. The title track by The Super Eagles sounds like a Seeds outtake, while Ofo &The Black Company's "Allah Wakbarr", an African drumming/ill city funk hybrid, would fit nicely on any James Brown record. Indeed, the Godfather of Soul's ghost runs as much through these songs as the Count Five. Other highlights include the reggae shuffle of Tunji Oyelana and The Benders' "Ifa", the Bop-Ska of Orchestre Regional De Kayes'"Sanjina", and the smooth horns and crazed vocals of Moussa Doumbia's "Keleya."
