Sexy Beast is the debut for director Jonathan Glazer who had previously only done music videos (Massive Attack, Blur, Nick Cave) and it features Oscar Award winner Ben Kingsley. It was a surprise to me that the Sexy Beast Soundtrack was not on James Lavelle’s Mowax label seeing that 6 of the 13 tracks are UNKLE (Lavelle) with South helping him out. The album kicks off with a classic Stranglers track entitled “Peaches and blends into a Henry Mancini track entitled “Lujon. It is after that that you get into the UNKLE tracks. It is refreshing to hear some new Lavelle stuff and when he uses the talents of his new signing South it opens up a whole new can of worms. These tracks are bloody amazing! The album closes with 4 tracks of an instrumental artist named Roque Banos followed by the album finisher, Dean Martin’s “Sway.
