It's been a while since I have checked in with Jack Logan. In fact, the last album heard was Buzz Me In, three albums ago. Sorry Jack, it's not because I didn't like you because indeed I did. Anyway, onto Nature's Assembly Line... This album came together after about a year's worth of recording with various people with various equipment in Athens, Georgia. Jack dubbed the project, The Monday Night Recorders due to the roving nature of the recordings. The assembled group, each Monday, would write three songs and then record them the same night. There ended up a whopping 94 songs that Nature's Assembly Line was culminated from. And it proves to be quite the project. It is probably the best Mark Lanegan album that Mark never even touched. I really dig Logan's voice. He's got a mix between Lanegan and Chris Isaak. The songs are stereo but maintain that immediacy feel due to the nature of the recording style. This album is for anyone who enjoys singer/songwriters. Jack Logan demonstrates how to write intelligent lyrics and put it all together in a matter of an evening. It doesn't have to be a long, drawn out process. I hope we see at least one more album from these recording sessions.
