Moody ambient drone with a touch of the sinister, the bleak even, that makes it rise above the usual tedium of the genre. This is inspired noise with a sad tale to tell underneath it all. The four members, part of the Jewelled Antler Collective ( a group of self-described "Sound ecologists) build off recording of natural sounds, and blend them with piano, percussion, and guitars, adding some prepared effects as well to create a wall of buzzing, subtle noise. This is like a field recording of an anxiety attack: part beautiful and fragile, part monstrous. This 2CD set may be a long haul for the average listener, but you persistent ones will find little fragments of sound gems all the way through. After you listen I bet the next walk you take will be full of sounds.
