I've felt like there has been a hole in my soul for a few years. Now, I'm not a huge hardcore fan but I have been known to rock out to a few bands now and then. One album in particular hit me hard and that happened to be Bane's Give Blood. It was a display of old school hardcore like hadn't been done for years. And it wouldn't be repeated until now. It has been 4 years since Give Blood and Bane have made a decision to make a comeback with an album simply titled The Note. Brian McTernan of Hot Water Music, Thrice and Cave In fame steps in to take on production duties and does a fine job of showcasing one of today's finest hardcore bands. Aaron Bedard's vocals are front and foremost as all good hardcore vocalists should be. But it is the massive guitar riffs that shine this time around. There isn't anything all that revolutionary, just that they are executed without forgiveness and the sound that Brian manages to get in the studio is huge. Bane keeps it real with The Note and keeps the face of hardcore back to where it needs to be.
